A good word to describe today’s political discourse would probably be “toxic.” But how did that happen? The political left and right agree unanimously on one thing: the other side is absolutely, unequivocally wrong (even un-American!) and anyone on the “other side” is an enemy that must be mocked, resisted, and suppressed–certainly not engaged with. And it doesn’t look like it’s getting any better. Politicians aren’t stupid. They understand that if they pander to the fringe elements of their parties they have a better chance of getting donations, increasing voter turnout, and winning elections. Someone wrote a book about this at some point. They NEED you pick a side… That means that the more they stoke the fires of tribalism, and keep discussion broken, they’ll keep getting elected. No thinking necessary… Deplorable or Snowflake… Red state or Blue state… Conservative or Liberal… This has to change. Reconsider Media is dedicated to cutting through the fog of partisan warfare and laying out the facts so you’re armed with the weapons you need to think for yourself. If the radical fringes think that politics is an all-or-nothing war… We want you to have the weapons to defend yourself from having your thoughts co-opted in service of a battle that serves only the political elite. You deserve the info needed to think for yourself. At ReConsider, we research politics: but we don’t do the thinking for you. We’re building a community of thoughtful, curious people driven to be a vanguard for real political progress. Your opinion matters and we want to hear it. So welcome aboard! And if someone happens to disagree with you hear them out… All we ask is that you ReConsider. Sincerely, Erik Fogg and Xander Snyder

A good word to describe today’s political discourse would probably be “toxic.”

But how did that happen?

The political left and right agree unanimously on one thing: the other side is absolutely, unequivocally wrong (even un-American!) and anyone on the “other side” is an enemy that must be mocked, resisted, and suppressed–certainly not engaged with.

And it doesn’t look like it’s getting any better.

Politicians aren’t stupid.

They understand that if they pander to the fringe elements of their parties they have a better chance of getting donations, increasing voter turnout, and winning elections. Someone wrote a book about this at some point.

They NEED you pick a side…

No thinking necessary…

Deplorable or Snowflake…

Red state or Blue state…

Conservative or Liberal…

This has to change.
