We’re sharing this because a few listeners/readers believed that McConnell’s statement that there’s “no way” Trump will be impeached, or his working directly with the White House on Trump’s defense, did not constitute a violation of his oath of office.
One might get me on a technicality here that he said all of these things before taking this particular oath (though I’d argue it links back to his Constitutional responsibilities clearly, which is an oath he took long ago and a few times now), but more importantly: is McConnell required by Constitution or by separate oath to be impartial, and is he being impartial?
