Xander and Erik ask Dr. Johnson to help us understand the statistical bombs of 2020: police violence, COVID-19, economy, and election.

John is the author of the book Everydata: The Misinformation Hidden in the Little Data You Consume Every Day.

We’re being pummeled with statistics more than perhaps ever before: models for COVID-19 curves regionally, nationally, and globally. Police brutality statistics, and where those do or don’t indicate racial bias. A recession that acts unlike anything we’ve ever seen. And an election that’s transforming under our feet.

It’s easy for pundits to cherry-pick factoids and deceive us with them. Luckily for us, we have Dr. John Johnson, PhD Economist and statistics extraordinaire, to help walk us through how to interpret all the numbers we’re getting in our faces, how to be skeptical about what we’re seeing, and how to keep thinking for ourselves the whole time.
